Lamine Yamal

Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana (born July 13, 2007) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a right winger for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team. Widely regarded as one of the best players in the world.

Yamal was born in Esplugues, a municipality in the Barcelona metropolitan area, to a mother from Equatorial Guinea and a father from Morocco. He grew up in Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia, and made his first-team debut at the age of 15 in April 2023, becoming the youngest player to appear for Barcelona in over a century. In September 2023, he debuted for the Spain senior national team and scored, breaking numerous youngest-ever records.

In the 2023-24 season, Yamal established himself at Barcelona, scoring several crucial goals and breaking multiple club and league records. That summer, he was a key player for Spain at the 2024 UEFA European Championship, scoring a spectacular long-range goal against France in the knockout stage to become the tournament's youngest-ever goalscorer at age 16, and ultimately helped the team win the title, while personally being named the Best Young Player.

In the 2024-25 season, Yamal became a pivotal figure under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, helping the club secure a domestic treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup). He won the Kopa Trophy (world's best young player) in both 2024 and 2025, and finished second in the 2025 Ballon d'Or voting. In July 2025, he inherited Barcelona's number 10 shirt.

In the 2025-26 season, Yamal continued his excellent form, netting his first career hat-trick, but his season ended prematurely due to a severe hamstring injury. On the international stage, he was selected for Spain's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad and scored his first World Cup goal. Off the pitch, Yamal is a Muslim and has drawn attention for actions such as holding a Palestinian flag and condemning anti-Muslim rhetoric. In June 2026, he was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
